We maintain an active presence with our municipal leaders and state legislators with annual Legislative Coffee events and State House Lobby Day visits.

We also engage our local supporters, residents, staff, board members and volunteer leaders to participate in the policy making process.

Annual Legislative Coffees

Since 2015, HCP has hosted an annual Legislative Coffee, with our state legislators and regional municipal leaders with emphasis  on the importance to develop more affordable housing for seniors and families in our local communities, and the regional zoning and other obstacles we face across the North Shore that challenge meeting those goals.

Lobby Days at the Massachusetts State House

Annual Lobby Day events provide HCP an opportunity to meet our regional legislators to advocate for state policy priorities at the State House.

HCP’s Executive Director, Andrew DeFranza presented testimony on housing supply issues faced by Massachusetts’ North Shore region to the state legislature’s Joint Committee on Housing on September 29, 2015. Andrew’s testimony in support of the housing bill, H.1111, An Act Relative to Housing Production included the importance of the provision on small scale production and zoning reforms for regions like the North Shore.
