Firehouse Place Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Scheduled for Willow Street Affordable Housing Project on November 14, 2011

Harborlight Community Partners to Completes Construction on Town’s First Community Preservation Fund Supported Affordable Housing Project

Hamilton, MA (November 7, 2011) ” On Monday, November 14, 2011, Harborlight Community Partners will celebrate the completion of renovations at Firehouse Place, 69 Willow Street, Hamilton.

The ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 2:45 p.m. followed by tours of the property until 5:30 p.m. All are welcome at the event to celebrate the Town of Hamilton’s first Community Preservation Fund supported affordable housing project and new permanent home to the Acord Food Pantry.

We would like to thank and congratulate the residents and public officials of the Town of Hamilton for their long effort to preserve a location for the Acord Food Pantry while creating some excellent, transit oriented, contextually appropriate affordable rental housing. You have made Firehouse Place a reality and we commend you, said Harborlight Community Partners Executive Director, Andrew DeFranza.

Harborlight Community Partners broke ground on the affordable housing project last June. The building that once served as the Town’s fire station has been completely updated to accommodate four affordable rental units with a one bedroom apartment designed for a disabled elderly person on the first floor facing Willow Street,  and three additional studio apartments on the second floor.   The new residents, who were selected from a lottery of over 90 application requests, are standing by to move in.

Firehouse Place was financed through the Town of Hamilton Community Preservation Fund, Acord Food Pantry, North Shore HOME Consortium, First Baptist Church of Beverly, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development: Housing Innovation Fund and Community Based Housing, Affordable Housing Trust Fund, Community Economic Development Assistance Corp., Boston Community Capital, MassDevelopment, Beverly Cooperative Bank, North Shore United Way and Beverly National Bank/Danvers Bank
