21 River Street, We Care About Homes Rehab

On  Thursday, May 29, 2014, Harborlight Community Partners held  an Open House at 21 River Street in Beverly, to showcase the last unit in our We Care About Homes/Cotton Mill Rehab Project. The entirety of this  work included 20 units of affordable family rental housing extensively renovated, with great support from the community, over the last 4.5 years.

21 River Street was the smallest unit in this housing pool but required gutting down to the foundation walls and dirt flooring. A clay sewer line was discovered during plumbing updating which needed to be replaced before a new concrete floor could be poured. Renovations in this unit included new plumbing, elecrtrical and heating systems; new insulation, walls, ceilings, flooring, windows, doors; new kitchen, bath and fixures. Finally, it will be the new home to a tenant moving on June 1!
