In 1963 First Baptist Church in Beverly bought and remodeled two Victorian homes which became Harborlight House, a congregate living facility for elderly of limited means in Southern Essex County.

In 1965, Harborlight House Properties, Inc. was formed as an independent non-profit corporation, and for the next 30 years, Harborlight housed 25 to 27 seniors in a 24-hour staffed facility offering meals, housekeeping, laundry, and other assistance.

In the 1990s, it became increasingly apparent that in order to adequately serve the older population coming to Harborlight House, it was necessary to fully renovate the property and offer expanded personal care and medication management services. To make this happen, Harborlight underwent a successful $5,000,000 capital campaign.

As the demand for regional affordable housing and services continued to grow, a more complete infrastructure was necessary in order to adequately meet these needs, and Harborlight Community Partners, Inc. was born.

In 2013 and 2014, Harborlight House underwent a substantial renovation, reconfiguring the building to 30 units from 35; units were resdesgned to have kitchenettes and increased space. Improvements were made throughout to accommodate an increasingly more frail and mobility challenged population. Today, Harborlight House, a lovely historic building, is even more grand in purpose and appearance.
