HCP’s Family Housing Portfolio of rental units meet the highest standards of safety and quality. Off-street parking, porches, and yards are common features; what sets HCP apart is a hands-on, personal approach to ongoing maintenance and a high level of responsiveness. This portfolio is comprised of a mix of one, two and three bedroom units.
HCP acquired the units when two two smaller housing groups sought to join with the larger HCP. The organizations “We Care About Homes” (local Beverly residents) and “Home At Last” (members of the Second Congregational Church in Beverly) were founded by volunteers responding to the great need for affordable housing in the area.
Of note, the family property referred to as “Cotton Mill” in Beverly a unique history. The home rests on the site of the Beverly Cotton Manufactory, the first cotton mill built in America, and the largest cotton mill to be built during its era. A plaque on site reads, “Here the first cotton mill in America was built, 1787; incorporated February 3, 1789; visited by Washington October 30, 1789; burnt 1828; Charles Frederick Smith, Donor; 1897.”
