3 North Shore Shelter Fest: noon to 9 p.m. Jan. 27, First Baptist Church, 221 Cabot St., Beverly. Shelter Fest is an all day music festival in downtown Beverly at First Baptist Church to benefit Harborlight Community Partners, North Shore’s largest affordable housing provider and advocate. General admission of $10 includes a full day access.

4 Intro to Modern Square Dancing: 7-9 p.m. Jan. 31, All Saints Episcopal Church, 46 Cherry St., Danvers. This event is free. For information: 978-774-8159; http://riversidesquares.org. Modern square dancing classes begin with a free introduction plus free homemade soups, held at the All Saints Episcopal Church. A 17-week session follows at $85 per person. Singles are welcome. 5 Meditation for New Beginnings: 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 1, Beverly Public Library, 32 Essex St., Beverly. Free and open to teens and adults, signup not required. Join Gloucester resident Eileen Carlotto for a program on the benefits of meditation. A student and practitioner of meditation for almost 30 years, Carlotto will offer effective techniques that can reduce stress, enhance relaxation, promote inner growth and improve physical, mental and spiritual health. A short meditation sitting will be included.
