We Care About Homes, Beverly


Harborlight Community Partners' We Care About Homes family housing includes  high quality affordable housing for low-income working families. Properties are located throughout the downtown Beverly area.  All of our rental units meet the highest standards of safety and quality. Off-street parking, porches, and yards are common features, as is a hands-on, personal approach to maintenance and tenant satisfaction.

We Care About Homes  History
In the late 1980s, when the housing market was booming, low-income families wereincreasingly unable to find safe, quality housing within their means. Founders Stella MaeSeamans and LeLand McDonough of Beverly, and James Nix of Manchester joined forces with the late Joseph Lumino to create We Care About Homes, a grassroots organization dedicated to creating vitally-needed affordable housing for families. Volunteers raised money through community grants and fundraising events such as spaghetti dinners, auctions, and theateroutings. Within a year, We Care About Homes was able to purchase a multi-family home onWest Dane Street and rent the newly renovated apartments to deserving families.  We Care About Homes grew into 20 rental units at seven properties to qualified families of limited resources.  Cotton Mill, was added in 2009 via a partnership with Home At Last a non profit long affiliated with the Second Congregational Church. Aptly named and historically significant, Cotton Mill stands on the site of our nation's first cotton mill, which was once visited by George Washington.

We Care About Homes Family Housing Application:

Rental units are offered at 75% of market value. For example, two-bedroom units begin at $800/month and three-bedroom units begin at $1050/month (subject to change). Tenants pay utilities.
