Harborlight House's caring and friendly staff is committed to maintaining an environment that fosters respect, dignity and privacy within the context of a safe, healthy, and active home. Residents maintain their maximum independence while receiving the assistance they need.

In the Beginning

In 1963 First Baptist Church in Beverly bought and remodeled two Victorian homes which became Harborlight House, a congregate living facility for elderly of limited means in Southern Essex County. In 1965, Harborlight House Properties, Inc. was formed as an independent non-profit corporation, and for the next 30 years, Harborlight housed 25 to 27 seniors in a 24-hour staffed facility offering meals, housekeeping, laundry, and other assistance.

In the 1990s, it became increasingly apparent that in order to adequately serve the older population coming to Harborlight House, it was necessary to fully renovate the property and offer expanded personal care and medication management services. To make this happen, Harborlight underwent a successful $5,000,000 capital campaign.

As the demand for regional affordable housing and services continued to grow, a more complete infrastructure was necessary in order to adequately meet these needs, and Harborlight Community Partners, Inc. was born.
